2003 has been a remarkable year for Socialist Alliance - we’ve achieved an enormous amount.
Around the country, Alliance members have been a the forefront of the movement to stop Bush and get the troops out of Iraq, and to free the refugees and make Ruddock pay for his lies.
We’ve helped build the campaigns against the attacks on Medicare and higher education, and worked side by side with communities refusing to bow down in the face of police, government and media racism.
Our trade union members have been centrally involved in campaigns in a wide range of unions to defend workers’ wages and conditions, and put the unions back into the hands of their members. And we have been there in active solidarity at just about every picket line nationwide.
In the process we have joined hundreds of new members in 2003, and established seven new branches of the Alliance. All in all, a huge step forward for the left in Australia.
As this amazing year comes to a close, the Socialist Alliance national conveners wish all members and supporters a relaxing, safe and well-earned break over the silly season. We have every reason to look forward to a new year of growing mass resistance to their wars at home and abroad, even greater left unity, and a stronger movement for socialism.
