Dear Comrades,
Please accept our revolutionary greeting to your conference. We hope
that this conference will result in strengthening the socialist forces
of Australia. A stronger movement here is a direct help the socialist
forces of the Asian region in particular.
We hope that Socialist Alliance becomes a very much a united representative force of all the different socialist currents in Australia. That will definitely ring more and more activists and radical forces under one platform.
We are very well aware of the current debate in the SA. We believe that the proposal of Democratic Socialist Party to dissolve itself in SA and a commitment to built one instead of two is bold and very much inspiring initiative. The experience of Scottish Socialist Party and its recent stunning electoral victories shows that a process of unity must be the priority.
Labour Party Pakistan is itself a sort of united front of different political left currents with commitment to built one party of the Socialist forces. Despite the very difficult objective realities, LPP has continued to make modest but firm progress during its five years of existence. LPP is still trying to unite the rest of the left outside LPP in one united front.
I personally have the honor of a guest speaker of SA during the year 2002 and visited eight cities. I had conveyed my feelings to DSP leadership after the end of the tour. I told them, it is a very inspiring initiative and I see many independents coming to the fold of SA. That would have not been possible without SA.
Let us keep the flag of Socialism high all over the world. We hope that the conference will result in uniting the Socialist forces of Australia in a more solid basis than before.
Long Live international socialist unity,
Comradely,
Farooq Tariq
General secretary
Labour Party Pakistan
